Tree planting across SPAR country organisations: Contact International

August 23, 2024 IN THE CATEGORY: Climate, Community, Environment, Responsible retailing

For over 90 years, SPAR country organisations been uplifting and growing communities around the world, with the fir tree at the centre of our identity. As part of our focus as a responsible retailer, tree planting initiatives play a pivotal role in environmental conservation and growth, and adding value to the communities we serve.

Trees are not only a symbol of our globally identity, but they also have a significant environmental role.

In recognising SPAR’s 90-year anniversary in 2022, SPAR launched the global SPAR One Tree Planted initiative alongside non-profit environmental charity One Tree Planted. They work with multiple SPAR country organisations worldwide to get trees in the ground and restore forests after fires and floods, creating habitats for biodiversity, and making a positive social impact around the world.

In addition to the SPAR One Tree Planted campaign, individual SPAR country organisations have made an impact on local environments.

In our most recent issue of Contact International, we look closely at the different initiatives undertaken by SPAR country organisations, as well as the work of the One Tree Planted campaign.
