March 16, 2023 IN THE CATEGORY: Store openings

In an ongoing programme of retail experience transformation, SPAR Zimbabwe invested in another of their core stores. The renovation was completed in just four weeks and has increased the area dedicated to fresh and frozen foods as well as the food service offer. The SPAR Supermarket which reopened on 22 February is located in the shopping centre of Groombridge, a suburb of the capital city Harare.

Fresh is Best

Almost 500m2 in the refurbished SPAR Supermarket now highlight SPAR’s ‘fresh is best’ policy. State-of-the-art fixtures and fittings reflect future supermarket trends, complemented by improved shelving, innovative point-of-sale technology, focus lighting and linear LED lighting. The renovation targeted not only the fittings, it also included the store’s layout, an improved product offer and the implementation of an extensive gifting and home décor section.

“We are delighted to announce the re-opening of SPAR Bridge. Our renovations were completed in a record time and we are very excited with the result – it’s a massive step forward for retail excellence in Zimbabwe,” said Cypren Borerwe, General Manager of SPAR Zimbabwe.

SPAR Bridge offers top-quality service departments, including high-quality baked goods and confectionery, a wide selection of meals-to-go, an extensive delicatessen, and a specialised butchery department, offering meat cut to order as well as traditional pre-packaged cuts.  Seafood displayed on ice, Sushi freshly prepared by an expert sushi chef, and a state-of-the-art Biltong Bar are also new additions. The liquor division, Tops at SPAR, offers a wide range of wines, spirits, beers and ciders, both local and imported to complete the shopping experience.

About SPAR Zimbabwe

In 1967, Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) became the 13th country to join the SPAR network after signing a license agreement with SPAR International. In 2015, an independent retailer took over the license for the SPAR Brand in Zimbabwe after the previous license holder divested this retail division.

Despite the challenging economic environment, SPAR Zimbabwe continues to grow its store network. It also remains actively involved in the local community, helping to make a difference through charitable and sponsored initiatives.
