SPAR UK retailer wins £100,000 investment award at SPAR Retail Show

The SPAR Retail Show (SRS) run by AFBlakemore Trade Partner's (BTP) took place at Telford International Centre on June 15th. With a focus theme of ‘sustainable growth’, one SPAR UK retailer was awarded a £100,000 investment fund to develop their business.

Recognition and awards

The theme of this year’s event focused on the theme of ‘sustainable growth’, with an emphasis on supporting retailers to grow profitable and sustainable businesses. At the event, SPAR retailer Sat Deo secured the top investment fund of £100,000 to develop their business further. Last year’s winner, Jenny Donaghy from community forecourt site SPAR Llandrinio, detailed how invaluable it has been for her family in taking their SPAR store and forecourt to the next level.

Other awards handed out include Welsh SPAR retailer Elfed Roberts, honoured with the coveted Baldwin cup. Additional winners included SPAR Great Bookham, SPAR Lindford, SPAR Fishtoft, SPAR LLandrinio, and supplier winners such as Nestle confectionery, Coca-Cola, Fuel10k, Hovis, and Heineken.

People and Partnerships

The day brought 1,300 retailers, suppliers and industry guests together to experience a series of trade shows, conferences and awards. The trade show featured an impressive line-up of 220 suppliers. The show offered retailers a unique opportunity to stay ahead of the competition by exploring what’s popular and upcoming in the market. Attendees could connect with numerous brands across various categories, fostering introductions and meaningful conversations.

The retail show places the importance A.F. Blakemore places on the partnership with their retailers. Their focus is on providing the right proposition for customers, differentiation from the competition and delivering outstanding results. A.F. Blakemore CEO Carol Welch highlighted their unique approach to partnering with retailers. She centred on the Blakemore Way, which connects People and Partnerships to “create unique, trusted relationships where real people take an interest in all aspects of retailers’ businesses.”
