“I am delighted to be working with Louise as ACS chair. She has been a key part of ACS activity from the board since she joined in 2019. She was a unanimous and enthusiastic choice to become chair”, ACS Chief Executive James Lowman said.
Louise Hoste joined SPAR in September 2019, coming to the business with a wealth of international retail experience.
“It is an honour to be able to support and contribute to all the work that the ACS do, especially as we have seen over the last 18 months how vital the team have been to the sector”, she said.
“Local convenience stores have shown how important they are to the communities that we live in. They enhance and enable them to thrive. I want to ensure that we capture the momentum that now exists for local stores, and through using the latest innovations and listening to customers, we can provide a relevant and progressive offer for our membership.”

The UK became a SPAR member in 1956 when SPAR International granted the SPAR licence to a group of independent wholesalers. There are now five regional partners in the UK. A central office in London provides national marketing and buying services for the group.
SPAR has led the highly competitive convenience market in the UK for many years. Always innovative, the five regional partners have continued to grow the brand. SPAR UK comprises independently owned licensed retailers and company-owned stores. These include forecourts, airports, train stations, city centres, and local neighbourhood stores.
