This year’s edition of five days led from Arosa via Laax to Davos, climbing 11,700 metres in altitude. The courses were challenging for both professional and recreational mountain bikers, especially on the 100 km long stage from Laax to Davos in heavy rain and low temperatures.
The SPAR Swiss Epic 2022 participants received maximum from the dedicated SPAR teams manning the SPAR refreshment stations. These were well equipped for all weather conditions and the needs of the bikers, offering bite-sized fruits, energy bars, refreshing drinks, warm bouillon, and chairs on which to rest.
Daniel Geismayr and Fabian Rabensteiner were the winners in the elite men’s category while Bettina Janas and Adelheid Morath were the winners in the women’s elite category. The two SPAR teams ‘Underberg’ and ‘South Africa’ placed 43rd and 83rd respectively in the overall categories. Already supporting the next generation of bikers, a Kids Race was held in Davos on the fifth day of the event. Some of the local SPAR team members also took the opportunity to experience the event, participating in the international race.
The event organisers aim to bring people together and offer the athletes, spectators and volunteers a unique experience in every respect with this first SPAR Swiss Epic race benefiting from SPAR as the title partner. “SPAR Switzerland is proud to be a part of the prestigious Swiss Epic”, said Gary Alberts, Chief Operating Officer at SPAR Switzerland. “Like SPAR, the Swiss Epic strives to bring families and friends together while promoting a fit and healthy lifestyle.”
The next edition of the SPAR Swiss Epic will take place from 15 to 19 August 2023.
