Last year, SPAR Sri Lanka introduced the SPAR Natural organic range of products, bringing an expanded selection of healthier, more sustainable options to shoppers. This range contains products that are either gluten-free, sugar-free, lactose-free, or Fair Trade.
The SPAR country operator has now introduced more products sourced from SPAR International. These include the Italian range, the Taste the World range, and other cooking staples. All own brand products are easily identifiable through attractive instore signage and dedicated display stands. The SPAR Own Brand products offer both quality and value for money and are available in SPAR stores while stocks last.
Market differentiation
During discussions with customers, SPAR Sri Lanka’s retail team learnt that the wider product choice available is seen as a differentiator in the market. The SPAR Natural section has become a destination category for shoppers’ keen to find products that can meet specific dietary requirements and address food intolerances.
The recently introduced SPAR Eco range of home care cleaning products contains readily biodegradable ingredients, enabling effective and thorough cleaning without the use of harmful or toxic ingredients. This plant-based range includes products that are allergen-free and ideal for customers with sensitive skin (neutral pH). By introducing this range, SPAR Sri Lanka is reducing its environmental impact and helping consumers be more sustainable in their habits.
Local sourcing
SPAR Sri Lanka is complementing its internationally sourced SPAR Own Brand range with locally sourced goods.
With the brand now established in the market, SPAR is also looking to develop a range of locally produced SPAR Own Brand products. Earlier this year, the company also collaborated with SPAR Oman to facilitate the export of Sri Lankan products to SPAR stores in that market.
