With the new Kandy supermarket, SPAR Sri Lanka extends its network to 12 stores across the island. This expansion demonstrates the retailer’s commitment to making high-quality retail experiences more widely available beyond the country’s largest city, Colombo.
SPAR’s growth in Sri Lanka is driven by a strong local partnership with Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL), one of the country’s most respected brands. Since entering the market in 2017, SPAR Sri Lanka has combined global retail expertise with CBL’s deep understanding of local consumers and supply chains. Together, they have introduced a “global yet local” retail concept that supports Sri Lankan producers and offers customers access to international-quality products and experiences.
SPAR Sri Lanka is committed to driving its future expansion in partnership with local entrepreneurs under the SPAR SaveMore brand. Through this initiative, the retailer aims to empower and develop local business owners by strengthening their capabilities, enhancing operational standards, and providing access to a globally recognised retail framework.
Over the past seven years, SPAR Sri Lanka has strengthened its presence in the supermarket industry. The stores offer a wide range of products, combining international and locally sourced goods to meet customers’ needs. Shoppers can also find a premium selection of SPAR own brand products, developed to meet global quality standards while supporting local manufacturing.
SPAR stores focus on fresh food excellence, with dedicated sections for fresh produce, bakery, meat, and popular ready-to-eat meals. Complemented by excellent customer service from internationally trained staff and modern store layouts, SPAR Sri Lanka provides a seamless and enjoyable shopping experience for all.
The opening of the 13th SPAR outlet in Kurunegala is scheduled for April. SPAR Sri Lanka’s growth shows not just expansion into new areas, but also ongoing efforts to improve supermarkets in Sri Lanka. The company is focused on offering a world-class shopping experience that makes things more convenient, increases quality, and gives better value to customers across the island.
