Street basketball is a very popular sport in Slovenia and the Slovenian Championships is one of the highlights of the sporting calendar. Showing its support of this well-liked event, SPAR Slovenia sponsored this year’s Championships, which was held in several locations across the country.

Around 1,600 players and 365 teams participated in the event’s five tournaments, all seeking to win the coveted title and the prize money of €20,000.

The highlight of the Championships was the final, held in the country’s capital, Ljubljana. It was well supported with huge crowds of fans turning out to see which team would be crowned the 2016 Champions. The SPAR Brand was well advertised throughout the event, both live and through extensive media coverage.

As a sponsor, SPAR Slovenia advertised the Championships to consumers through a variety of channels. The event was also a great opportunity for SPAR Slovenia to promote its own brand products such as its sun protection range, Sun Kiss. The SPAR Brand is well known in Slovenia and the own brand ranges are widely purchased.

Another successful event of the summer was the 2016 Ljubljana Beach Volleyball Challenge. Held in the centre of Ljubljana, at the Kongresnitrg Square, fans were treated to three days of top-class international volleyball under fantastic conditions.

SPAR Slovenia was delighted to support the event and come on board as a sponsor. The overall atmosphere was amazing as crowds gathered in the sunshine to spur on the players who battled it out each day until the spotlights came on.
