Within the ‘Together for Less Plastics’ project, SPAR Slovenia is working towards a circular economy for its packaging materials without producing new waste. To decrease the amount of unnecessary waste instore, SPAR facilitates purchases without packaging or with returnable packaging.
SPAR Slovenia also ensures sustainable operations in the supply chain by using reusable plastic containers from IFCO to transport and display fresh produce.
The returnable boxes help reduce waste, CO2 emissions, and water consumption while ensuring proper product storage and protection.
Recently, SPAR Slovenia obtained the IFCO Sustainability Certificate for 2020, which awards the saving of natural resources and the reduction of waste by using returnable crates. Thanks to this approach, SPAR Slovenia last year cut:
