Eight young entrepreneurs are participating in this year’s competition. Their 21 products are now available in all INTERSPAR Hypermarkets nationwide. The sixth season officially kicked off on 13 September, unveiling the product displays in the INTERSPAR Citypark in Ljubljana. The participating entrepreneurs, project partners, and Slovenian influencers gathered at the opening event. From 3 October, Slovenia’s TV channel POP TV will broadcast the stories of the young entrepreneurs every Saturday night.
Since the launch of Start it up, Slovenia! in 2016, more than 200 new products have been developed by 44 participating teams. Currently, the products of 32 former teams are still available in stores nationwide.
At this year’s launch, the Managing Director of SPAR Slovenia, David Kovačič, said: “The criteria according to which we choose entrepreneurs do not just include sales projections, but also broader environmental and social goals. All the products we put on the shelves today have a sustainable note. I hope that they will also be a step towards more sustainable shopping behaviour in Slovenia.”
This year’s product range is innovative and sustainable, including nursing scrub cream Bossy Cafe, dental pill Alternatives +, gluten-free sweet potato pasta Batasta, and refreshing apple cider Malnera. Trnulja’s organic frozen soy products provide a balanced meal, Feedko offers a tasty meal for dogs, and Innobox’s educational experiments encourage learning by playing.
Customers can support their favourite start-up by purchasing their products. The entry with the highest sales will be crowned this year’s winner at the end of the campaign.
