SPAR Slovenia launches campaign to collect school supplies

SPAR Slovenia, in collaboration with the Anita Ogulin Association, launched a campaign titled "Let's fill bags and hearts together" to help primary school pupils from socially disadvantaged backgrounds fill their bags with the necessary supplies for a happy and confident start to the new school year, starting in September.

According to the Anita Ogulin Association, the number of families in need of help with purchasing school supplies has doubled in the last year. In 2023, 215 children and adolescents received materials for school, and in 2024, that number increased to 435.

The campaign takes place between 11 and 25 June 2025 in all SPAR and INTERSPAR stores, where customers will be able to donate products in specially marked trolleys for primary school students from socially disadvantaged families. For the duration of the campaign, SPAR Slovenia has also prepared a favourable offer of notebooks under its private label collection, SPAR office, making it easier for everyone who wants to participate.

Easy accessibility for pupils

At the end of the fundraising campaign, SPAR Slovenia will donate school supplies, valued at €5,000. The handover of the collected school supplies and the additional contribution from the company will take place in July. All donated school supplies will be distributed to families in need through the humanitarian programme Chain of Good People, which operates under the auspices of the Anita Ogulin Association.

Alenka Petkovšek, president of the Anita Ogulin Association, said, “While children are eagerly counting down the last days of school until the holidays, parents are already worrying about how they will buy everything they need for the new school year. The purchase of school supplies can quickly cost families up to €300 per child, excluding the additional costs of autumn clothes and footwear that the child will also need. Entering the new school year is an extremely high expense for many families, so we at the Anita Ogulin Association are very grateful for the charity campaign with SPAR Slovenia. We believe that by working together, we can fill the school bags of children in need and accompany them on their journey to knowledge, while also greatly relieving their parents.”

For several years, SPAR Slovenia has collaborated with the Anita Ogulin Association, which operated until 2024 under the name ZPM Ljubljana Moste-Polje, providing primary school pupils with school supplies.
