SPAR Slovenia expands Ljubljana warehouse with €40 million investment

SPAR Slovenia is expanding its warehouse in Ljubljana with a modern 20,000m² facility to enhance the speed and variety of fresh, high-quality product deliveries to its stores. This €40 million project represents one of the most significant infrastructure investments in Slovenia's retail industry in recent years. The construction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026.

Currently, the SPAR distribution centre in Ljubljana spans 43,000m², with 29,000m² dedicated to non-refrigerated products and 14,000m² to fresh products. With the planned expansion, SPAR Slovenia will add 20,000m², including 12,000m² for warehouse space. This increases the total fresh product storage to 26,000m². Furthermore, the remaining space will include an underground garage for employees and modern technical and working areas.

As a result of this expansion, SPAR Slovenia will enhance its ability to supply fresh products more quickly and comprehensively. The number of delivery ramps will increase from 75 to 95. This will improve the flow of goods and reduce traffic congestion at the depot. To complement this, a new truck route system will optimise traffic management and minimise disruption.
