CJ Lang & Son Ltd, SPAR wholesaler in Scotland, has received a RoSPA President’s Award for Health and Safety achievements. This internationally recognised award was issued for demonstrating high health and safety standards.

Strong health and safety culture

Organisations receiving a RoSPA Award are recognised as being world leaders in health and safety practice. Every year, nearly 2,000 entrants vie to achieve the highest possible accolade in what is the UK’s longest-running Health & Safety industry awards.

Brian Straiton, Operations Director said: “This truly is a significant milestone. We have been dedicated to improving our health and safety culture across our business. Hereby we ensure CJ Lang remains a safe environment for all our colleagues and customers.”

Throughout the journey, there were a number of key turning points in building a stronger safety culture. These include the introduction of more personal onsite health and safety audits to promote managing these responsibilities. Health and safety tasks became more transparent through digitalisation, building efficiency into health and safety due diligence.

Colin Chapman, Distribution Director added: “At the same time, in our Distribution Centre, we have taken great strides to improve our health and safety culture through improved safety observation, awareness and training for our colleagues. Given the additional health and safety challenges we have overcome throughout the pandemic, it’s amazing to be recognised for these efforts in such a prestigious way.”
