SPAR Scotland appoints Robbie Moore as Head of Trading

SPAR Scotland has announced the appointment of Robbie Moore as Head of Trading.

As Head of Trading at SPAR Scotland operator CJ Lang, Mr Moore’s role will involve heading up the dedicated trading team, ensuring that budgeted wholesale trading for CJ Lang is maintained and developed in terms of volume, value, and margins. He will also identify sales opportunities, promote maximum loyalty, and ensure approved store development activities deliver added value. 

Robbie Moore joins SPAR Scotland from Morrisons, where he was wholesale buying manager. His role involved heading up core grocery for Morrisons wholesale and M Daily franchise. Before that, Mr Moore was at Costcutter for seven years, where he held the positions of head of commercial, category manager and buying assistant.

On his appointment, Colin McLean, CEO at SPAR Scotland, said, “We’re delighted to see Robbie joining our SPAR Scotland Exec team where he will actively provide advice and input to the business and our members. He will be a great addition encouraging and supporting the SPAR brand and standards of operation in SPAR retail stores.” 

Robbie Moore added, “I am excited to take this role with CJ Lang. Operationally the trading team is in a very strong position, and I look forward to building on its success.”

Mr Moore was recognised as The Grocer’s Top New Talent Winner and Colleague of the Year in 2018 and has been acknowledged for his achievements with GroceryAid. He was up until recently the Co-Chairman of the Northern network. He took up his appointment on the 6 September and will report to Colin McLean, CEO.

Richard Collins, current Trading Director, leaves CJ Lang & Son Ltd on 1 October to move back to be with his family in Yorkshire.
