In Belgium, SPAR Retail Partners Colruyt Group continues to strengthen brand presence and support of independent retailers with the opening of a new SPAR supermarket in Lanklaar and reopening of the renovated SPAR Halle supermarket.

Family milestone in Lanklaar

In September, the doors opened to the new SPAR supermarket in the heart of Lanklaar. This new supermarket is the fifth store for the family of the store manager, Cihan, and brings a modern, family-run supermarket back to their home village. The supermarket is designed as a warm neighbourhood hub, focusing on fresh, local, and family-oriented offerings, including an artisanal butcher, in-house catering, and a prominent bakery. Sustainability is at the core, with energy-efficient lighting, CO₂ cooling, heat recovery, and over 200 solar panels powering the supermarket.

Renovated SPAR Halle supermarket reopens

After a comprehensive renovation, the SPAR supermarket Halle reopened, offering customers a refreshed shopping experience. Owners Wim and Carla have led the supermarket for 13 years, building a close-knit team of 30 local employees. The updated supermarket features a modern interior, expanded fresh food departments, extended opening hours and additional checkout capacity. Local produce and regional specialities remain central, alongside new sustainable packaging and a wider selection of ready-to-eat meals.
