Located in a popular mall, the new supermarket is easily accessible to residents from multiple housing societies in the area. With a retail sales area of 1,280m2, the Faisalabad store’s departments include Fruit & Vegetables, Meat, Grocery, Beverages, and Snacks, as well as a wide variety of non-food options such as Pharmacy, Household, and Toys & Stationery.
At the time of opening, the store stocked a total of 6,855 SKUs, with another 1,500 to be added in the Pharmacy department in the following weeks. SPAR Faisalabad has created employment opportunities for 84 full-time and five part-time team members.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr Naveed Sultan, CEO at SPAR Pakistan, said that SPAR plans to open 35 stores across Pakistan in next three to five years.
Faisalabad is one of Pakistan’s most populous cities. Due to its central location and connecting roads, rails, and air transportation, it has grown into a major industrial and distribution centre for the nation.
Learning from the two previous SPAR stores in the city of Karachi, SPAR Pakistan introduced a sitting area in the Faisalabad store’s Bakery & Café department. A fruit & vegetable chiller, as well as a cold room freezer, have also been added to ensure the availability of the highest quality of produce.
Ahead of the opening event, SPAR Pakistan made savvy use of billboards, radio adverts, SMS marketing, social media channels, and leaflet distribution to inform residents of the new store.
