SPAR Oman’s Home Chef contest a huge success

January 30, 2018 IN THE CATEGORY: Digital and Marketing

SPAR Oman recently announced the winner of its Home Chef contest launched in October 2017. Shoppers were invited to submit a two minute video of themselves preparing their favourite recipe. The contestants were competing to stand the chance of becoming SPAR Oman’s first official food blogger and win a year’s worth of SPAR shopping vouchers.

The aim of the Home Chef contest was to celebrate home cooks and people with a passion for food – to showcase their talent for creating delicious, healthy and easy-to-prepare recipes.

SPAR Oman is very active on social media, organising instore activities for customers on a regular basis such as Bake with Mom and cook-offs like the Diwali cooking festival. The goal of these social media initiatives, which are loved by consumers, is to bring the local community closer together and build a strong connection with SPAR.

Out of all of the entries for the Home Chef competition, SPAR Oman recently announced one winner: Shilpa Jose, who won over the jury with her exciting cooking style and simple, easy-to-follow recipes. Shilpa is a mother of two year old twins and is passionate about cooking, a trait she has picked up from her mom.

SPAR Oman is excited to work with Shilpa over the next year to represent SPAR’s values of healthy food and healthy living. She will be SPAR Oman’s official Home Chef and will create two video recipes a month as exclusive content for SPAR Oman’s social media channels. SPAR Oman has plans to extend the partnership and invite Shilpa to conduct instore cooking sessions, for social media followers and contest participants.

This campaign is a first-of-its-kind in Oman, making SPAR Oman a leader in creating engaging and meaningful content that is co-developed with the local blogging community. The goal is to expand on this initiative and bring in more food bloggers to give them a platform to showcase their skills, helping to also bring SPAR Oman closer to its customers.
