SPAR Oman has successfully converted and rolled out a number of SPAR-branded stores over the past 15 months. The business was delighted to welcome government representatives to the opening ceremony, as well as a number of key SPAR delegates. The store was opened in the presence of M.K. Pathmanaathan, the Sri Lankan Ambassador and Qais bin Suleiman Al Kishri, Director of Health Administration in Muscat. Also present were Kanan Kapadia, Director of SPAR Oman, M. Sridar, CEO of SPAR Oman and K. Devendra Kumar, Head of Retail at SPAR Oman.
At the opening Mr Sridar said: “SPAR MBD offers its customers great value, uncompromising freshness, a wide range of top quality products and excellent customer service.” One of the supermarket’s main competitive advantages is its value offering, according to Devendra Kumar: “Most of our top selling products are at hypermarket prices. Customers can therefore benefit from a shopping experience that combines the convenience of a supermarket with hypermarket prices.”
The supermarket opened with a three-day promotion featuring fantastic offers, exciting activities for kids and a value package for customers. This newest store is now the fifth SPAR Supermarket in Oman and plans are in place to have nine operational by the end of the year.
SPAR Oman developed this newest and largest SPAR store in close cooperation with SPAR International. The SPAR International design team assisted with a detailed store and category analysis and the development of the Kitsu™ Noodle Bar and bakery department.
The SPAR Partner in Oman is the Khimji Ramdas Group, one of the largest business conglomerates in the country. Its retail portfolio includes 60 supermarkets and it is a trusted partner for over 400 global brands.
