Opened by manager Jan-Håkon Norheim, the spacious 2,200m2 store was developed in a year-long project at a cost of €3 million. This investment also created employment opportunities for 50 people.
The strong focus on fresh products within this EUROSPAR Supermarket’s offer includes a 12-metre-long salad bar and the only fresh fish, meat, and deli department in Harstad.
The store features a new bakery with a good range of freshly baked bread and other goods, providing better availability of much-needed essentials for residents and visitors.
A comprehensive marketing and social media campaign was rolled out to coincide with the launch of the EUROSPAR Supermarket. This delivered strong results as 5,000 customers shopped at the store on its opening day.
The opening of this EUROSPAR Supermarket aligns with SPAR Norway’s ongoing plans for growth and expansion. The store’s layout also has sustainability at its core in further alignment with SPAR Norway’s principles.
Innovative recycling facilities are available for customers and the EUROSPAR store also adopts SPAR Norway’s ‘No Waste’ programme which is a food waste reduction initiative. Retailers can maximise its effectiveness through shared learning throughout the SPAR Norway network.
Convenience is another major asset to the store, with the fully modern supermarket fitted with 20 self-service checkouts and two manually operated counters.
