Ubamarket’s Scan, Pay, Go! app allows customers to build shopping lists ahead of planned store visits to see what is in stock, be guided around the store and scan products as they shop. Other benefits of the end-to-end mobile shopping app include allergen and dietary alerts for every product, and sustainability information regarding the recyclability of any plastic packaging associated with each product.
The technology allows for staff to be deployed elsewhere in the store, and colleagues can help replenish items and safely help customers.
“Convenience stores and supermarkets are currently desperate for retail tech innovation that improves the in-store shopping experience. Ubamarket and Henderson Technology can now provide shoppers with a fully revitalised and hyper-convenient experience, enabling them to visit their stores and shop more safely and efficiently. This marks a significant shift in the landscape of retail technology and in shopping on a wider scale”, explains Will Broome, CEO of Ubamarket.
“With a large number of excellently managed, high-end stores across Northern Ireland, SPAR and Henderson Technology really are the perfect launch partner. We look forward to incorporating a number of trailblazing new features (such as AI personalisation) over the coming weeks as we introduce the app to more and more stores across the group”, Will Broome adds.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Ubamarket to introduce SPAR Scan, Pay, Go!. These are the first three stores to use this app with our award-winning EDGEPoS point of sale system”, comments Darren Nickels, Retail Operations Director of Henderson Technology, part of the Henderson Group. “This latest development gives our retailers another vital way of serving shoppers and making sure their store operations are as efficient and effective as they possibly can be in these challenging times.”

About SPAR UK
The UK became a member of SPAR in 1956 when a group of independent wholesalers was granted the SPAR licence by SPAR International. There are five regional partners in the UK with strategically placed Distribution Centres in each region. A central office, located in London, provides national marketing and buying services for the group and supports the development of the brand.
SPAR has led the convenience market in the UK for many years but has faced increasing competition. Always innovative, the five regional partners have continued to grow the brand. Throughout the UK, a combination of independently-owned licensed retailers and company-owned stores can be found, spanning forecourts, airports, train stations, city centres, and local neighbourhoods.
