Henderson Group, SPAR UK wholesaler for Northern Ireland, celebrated the opening of EUROSPAR Supermarket on Millburn Road in Coleraine. This expansion rounds out a total of £5 million (€5.8 million) invested into the Coleraine area, with 3 new supermarkets opening since 2022.

EUROSPAR Supermarket

The latest opening comes with the renovation of the former SPAR Supermarket at Millburn Road converted into a EUROSPAR Supermarket. The project took 25 weeks to complete and increased the store size by more than 50%.

Now, the store provides an increased offer for customers, with up to 2,000 new lines available across various departments ranging from frozen to ambient. This includes an extensive selection of fresh produce, over 75% of which comes from local suppliers, and an expanded bakery. The shopping experience has been further enhanced with the opening of 3 self-checkouts in addition to full-service checkouts.

The new supermarket features a stand-alone Post Office counter. There are 72 parking spaces available as well as a 6-pump forecourt and 2 electric vehicle charging points. This supermarket provides everything local shoppers need under one roof.

The store is embedding itself into the local community, providing amenities to local schools and charities. In total, 8 new jobs have been created instore with the store team all living in the locality.

Investing in Coleraine

The opening of this supermarket completes a £5 million (€5.8 million) investment into the Coleraine area. This opening follows the successful launches of SPAR Supermarket on Castlerock Road in 2022 and EUROSPAR Supermarket in Mountsandel in 2023, the latter marking the introduction of the first EUROSPAR Supermarket to the area. Across the 3 locations, a total of 31 jobs were created, providing employment for the local community.
