SPAR Netherlands announces the appointment of Tom Bussink as CFO. He will join the company on 1 February 2025, where he will use his broad experience in retail and foodservice to further shape SPAR Netherlands growth ambitions. He succeeds the departing Finance & IT director Bas Luten, who has held this role for the past four years.

His career started at De Boer Winkelbedrijven NV, later merged into Laurus NV (now part of Jumbo), after which he worked as a Finance & Administration manager at Hema. He then fulfilled the role of Director of Corporate Control at VendexKBB (now Maxeda). In 2005, he made the switch to public transport as CFO at NS Commercie. After various CFO positions at NS, he returned to retail in 2014, as financial director at Intergamma, where he worked for more than 10 years. In many of his roles, he has worked intensively with independent entrepreneurs.

John van der Ent, CEO SPAR Netherlands said: “The arrival of Tom Bussink is a valuable addition to SPAR Netherlands. With his extensive experience in retail, finance and logistics, and his proven ability to achieve strategic growth, we are convinced that he will make a significant contribution to our ambitions. Together, we will build on the further strengthening of SPAR brand as the first choice for convenience in the Netherlands.”

John Kruijssen, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of SPAR in the Netherlands: “Tom’s extensive managerial and financial experience will certainly be of added value to SPAR Holding and its affiliated entrepreneurs. We are pleased with his arrival and are confident that he, together with all colleagues, will have a sustainable impact for SPAR.”

Tom Bussink says: “I am looking forward to joining SPAR Netherlands, a company with a rich history. With my experience and background, as the new CFO of SPAR Netherlands, I want to make an important contribution to the realisation of the strategy and the efficient execution of business processes, in which continuity and sustainable growth of the organisation are central.
