Aimed at fulfilling the daily shopping needs of residents and tourists alike, the new SPAR Supermarket has a sales surface of 380m2 and was developed with the support of SPAR International. To run this store, 15 people were employed from the local community, adding job opportunities in the local economy. The team benefited ahead of the opening from the knowledge available from the existing SPAR stores operating on the island. SPAR Malta has firm plans in place to open its fifth SPAR store soon, making this a summer of expansion.
This neighbourhood SPAR Supermarket has been very well received as evidenced by the busy check-out counters from the first day of operation. The official opening of the SPAR Supermarket, which was attended by the local mayor, was limited in scope due to COVID-19 prevention.
In its stores, SPAR Malta offers shoppers a great choice of internationally sourced SPAR Own Brand products, including DESPAR Italia private labels. These complement the locally and regionally sourced items available, offering customers products for every shopping mission.
At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, SPAR Malta showed resilience and a quick response, introducing preventative measures, as well as implementing a full-service e-commerce platform to assist consumers staying at home.
