SPAR Kosovo opened a flagship SPAR Supermarket in the neighbourhood of Arbëria in Pristina on March 1. The 1,600m2 store was developed at an investment of €1.4 million, offers customers a comprehensive assortment of over 10,000 products and created job opportunities for 45 new team members.

Extensive fresh food choices

The extensive fresh food departments include butchery, bakery, fish, fruit and vegetables and home meal replacement. A butcher is on hand to provide advice and cuts to suit shopper needs at the butchery counter. Ready packed cuts are available in the adjacent self-serve chiller. Both meat and fish are sourced locally and internationally from suppliers meeting the high standards of SPAR Kosovo. In the fresh produce area, both loose and pre-packed choices are available, giving customers greater options. In the bakery department, customers can either ask for the product they need or use the self-serve solution. The integration of the CENSA barista coffee concept completes the foodservice innovation in this department.

Global SPAR network

An extensive range of over 2,000 private label products gives shoppers access to the best ranges sourced locally and through SPAR internationally. The SPAR N°1 Value range provides shoppers with quality, everyday essentials at great prices. SPAR Own Brand ranges further include core grocery products and non-food options. There is also an organic range on offer under the SPAR Natural label.

Working closely with SPAR International and selected suppliers, SPAR Kosovo  introduced many modern elements to the flagship store.  Taking into account the environmental footprint of a retail store of this size, energy saving refrigeration is used throughout as is LED lighting. For environmentally conscious shoppers, long-life packaging is on offer at the checkouts.

Retail modernisation

This modern flagship supermarket has been designed to provide customers a very enjoyable shopping experience. SPAR Kosovo will adopt many of the features of this store in future refurbishment of existing SPAR stores and when developing new stores.

Since 2021, SPAR Kosovo has become a division of the long-established Meridian Corporation operating in that country.
