Better together on sourcing
The full SPAR International Wine Collection is made up of a collection of wines from more than 20 different producers, suppliers, and wholesalers – working in partnership to make some of the world’s best wines available to SPAR Partners. It includes red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines from eight participating SPAR markets.
In collaboration with SPAR Partners from Austria, France, Georgia, Italy, Portugal, South Africa, Slovenia and Spain, SPAR International offers a wide selection of entry-level, mid-tier and premium wines.
Wine is famous for being one of the most fragmented industries in the world with the top 10 wine producers making up 11% of total global wine production. The consolidation of both producers and the retail space is also set to continue in the coming years, and SPAR is maximising opportunities from this consolidation, gaining access to key producers.
In line with SPAR International’s buying better together strategy, the collection highlights the advantages of using local expertise in sourcing combined with the international expertise in logistics to enhance the retail offer available within SPAR globally.

About SPAR China
SPAR was introduced to China in 2004 with the signing of the licence agreement for Shandong Province. This was followed by the addition of more partners, and now SPAR has eight partners in nine provinces: Shandong, Guangdong, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Beijing, Sichuan, Henan, Hebei, and Yunnan.
The privately-owned retail chains licensed to operate SPAR have a cooperative relationship in line with the original SPAR mission of working together to reduce costs, maximise sales, and increase profits. The SPAR China Partners, whilst part of a leading international group, maintain 100% local ownership.
