In September, a new SPAR Supermarket opened its doors on the ground floor of Etele Pláza, Budapest’s largest shopping centre. The state-of-the-art store is in the busy transport hub of the Kelenföld neighbourhood of Újbuda. Nearly 165,000 daily commuters use the local train, metro, and bus station. Moreover, around 236,000 people live in the primary catchment area.
With the opening of this new store, SPAR Hungary created 49 new job opportunities. Instore environmental solutions include an energy-saving LED lighting system and sustainable refrigeration technologies. The store’s self-service checkouts facilitate streamlined, fast shopping.
Apart from well-stocked fresh produce and bakery departments, the store also features a large selection of items under the SPAR enjoy brand. This convenience range presents high-quality products that cater to different nutritional needs and preferences.
Continuing its investment in modernisation, SPAR Hungary has refurbished three of its Budapest SPAR stores. In all three stores, the conversions have created an improved layout, more environmentally friendly store systems, and more streamlined checkout areas.
Run by 25 team members, the layout of the renovated SPAR Supermarket in the Budapest XI district now highlights the new delicatessen section as well as the seasonal fresh produce and bakery products on offer. All shop fittings and equipment were replaced during the conversion, keeping in mind a streamlined design.
The SPAR to Go in Buda’s shopping and entertainment centre at MOM Park has also been revamped. Most of the store equipment, including all refrigeration systems, has been updated to the latest standards. The cash registers are also brand new.
Shopping has been made more comfortable at SPAR Rákosfalva in the Budapest XIV District thanks to a redesigned floor plan and renovated façade. The store now features an entirely new interior with all new shop fittings – including racks, shelves, and other equipment. The new SPAR enjoy section features a unique convenience product cooler. Low-consumption LED lamps and an environmentally friendly, carbon dioxide-based cooling system ensure a lowered energy consumption.
