SPAR Hungary has supported the Maltese Charity Service ‘Joy of Giving’ Christmas campaign ever since it was launched 25 years ago. Now for the first time, SPAR Hungary has also organised a ‘Joy of Giving’ school supply fundraising campaign in 33 of its INTERSPAR stores. Between 21 July and 5 September, INTERSPAR and SPAR online shoppers can show their support and help children in need.

To participate, customers can purchase dedicated donation cards varying in value from HUF 500 to 10,000 (€1.4 to €28.7). At the end of the campaign, the Maltese Charity Service will exchange the donation cards for school supplies. These supplies will then be gifted to families in need before the start of the new school year.

To further boost campaign visibility, volunteers of the Maltese Charity Service were present at INTERSPAR Hypermarkets from 25 to 28 August to collect donations instore.

Customers are invited to buy selected products in participating hypermarkets and hand them over to the volunteers after the checkout zone.

“The gift packages will help school children of large families, those living in temporary homes, orphanages or in foster homes to get ready for school in September. Instore collections allow customers to support those in need”, says Tamás Romhányi, Head of Communications at the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service.

Thanks to the ‘Joy of Giving’ fundraising campaign, the Maltese Charity Service and SPAR can support thousands of children and families, both at Christmas and at the start of the school year.

The list of INTERSPAR participating stores and fundraising results so far are visible on a dedicated website. The initiative can also be supported through SPAR Hungary’s online shop.
