SPAR Hungary continues its commitment to enhancing the shopping experience and promoting sustainability with significant investments in store modernisation and network growth. From a €2.9 million refurbishment of the INTERSPAR Hypermarket in Székesfehérvár to the modernisation of three SPAR Supermarkets and the milestone opening of its 300th independent retailer operated store in Lenti, SPAR Hungary provides innovative, eco-friendly, and customer-focused solutions.

€2.9 million investment in INTERSPAR Hypermarket

SPAR Hungary’s retail network modernisation programme offers a better shopping experience and promotes sustainability while providing a great shopper experience.

The INTERSPAR Hypermarket in Székesfehérvár now features modern refrigeration systems and materials were reused during renovations. Although the retail sales area has not changed, the new layout offers a more convenient and organised shopping experience.

Near the entrance, customers find a fruit and vegetables department, a bakery, and convenience products. Further inside, they find a delicatessen and meat counters alongside refrigerated sections with pre-packaged deli and meat products. The layout then guides shoppers through beverages, dairy, frozen goods, and non-food.

The store employs 81 people and uses LED lighting, a carbon-dioxide-based refrigeration system with heat recovery, and energy-saving door-mounted refrigerators.

SPAR Hungary invests over €1.7 million in modernisation of three supermarkets

SPAR Hungary has modernised three supermarkets in Miskolc, Sopron, and Tatabánya, focusing on updated interiors, energy efficiency, and sustainability.

Sopron: SPAR Hungary invested over €697,000 to update the layout, strengthen the fruit and vegetable department, and renovate check-out areas of the supermarket. The store introduces grilled food chafers and upright freezers. Energy-efficient LED lighting and a CO2-based heating system were also installed.

Tatabánya: At an investment of over €689,000, the entrance was relocated, and the store layout was improved to include a refreshed deli area with grilled food. The supermarket now features new freezers, upgraded check-outs, LED lighting, and a CO2-based heating system.

Miskolc: Renovation costs of over €407,000 resulted in the store now utilising SPAR Hungary’s design, with new service counter fridges, updated checkouts, and energy-efficient LED lighting.

300th independent retailer store opened

SPAR Hungary has reached a milestone with the opening of its 300th independent retailer operated store in Lenti. The supermarket is operated by Fe-Zo Kft., which owns four independently operated stores in western Hungary. This convenience store, located in the heart of Lenti, underwent a full renovation, including updated equipment and a modern design. With a retail sales area of 286m2, the convenience store offers freshly baked goods, deli and meat counters, and a self-service cheese section.

SPAR Hungary’s independent retailer network, launched in 2012, has grown steadily and now includes 300 stores, with seven more opening this year. The retailers employ nearly 3,700 people and generated €328 million in turnover last year. Retailers benefit from store modernisations, access to over 16,000 products, logistics, training, IT, and marketing support.
