SPAR Hungary opens supermarket in Szombathely after €2.5 million investment

SPAR Hungary has launched a supermarket in Szombathely after investing over €2.5 million. The store has a 1,000m² retail sales area with more than 10,000 products. Located within easy reach for residents, the supermarket provides a wide range of everyday items, including fresh food and convenience products, all in a modern shopping environment.

Fresh and ready-to-eat food offer

Key features of the SPAR Supermarket are fresh fruit and vegetables, bread and pastries baked instore, and convenient ready-to-eat products. In addition to the fresh meat and deli counters, self-service fridges offer chilled ready-made meals, while heated display units feature a large selection of grilled and breaded meats, vegetarian dishes, and side options for takeaway. The SPAR enjoy range features sandwiches, soups, and salads, perfect for breakfast or lunch on the go.

Convenient access, local products, and 26 new jobs

The supermarket has created 26 new jobs for local people, bringing excellent customer service to shoppers. There are three staffed and six self-service checkouts, providing customs with options for fast payment. Thanks to the ‘Regional Treasures’ programme, products from local producers are also available. Shoppers can easily reach the supermarket by car or bike, accessing one of 140 parking spaces, with designated spots for disabled visitors and bike racks.

Sustainability and recycling initiatives

SPAR Hungary remains committed to sustainability in all its stores. The supermarket’s lighting is based on energy-efficient LED technology, the refrigeration system utilises a closed-loop carbon dioxide-based technology, while the generated heat is recycled for heating the building. A bottle return machine is accessible from the car park, while recycling stations for glass, plastic, and paper are located near the checkouts.
