SPAR Hungary ran fourth school supplies donation campaign

SPAR Hungary, in partnership with the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service, ran the ‘Joy to Give!’ school supplies campaign for the fourth consecutive year. The campaign supports children in need at the start of the new school year.

From 29 July to 1 September 2024, customers could purchase donation cards at participating INTERSPAR Hypermarkets or through SPAR Hungary’s online platform. The cards range in value from HUF 500 (€1.27) to HUF 10,000 (€25.40). The funds collected will be used to purchase essential school supplies. These will be delivered to families in need before the school year begins.

Additionally, between 21 and 24 August 2024, volunteers from the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service collected school supplies from participating INTERSPAR Hypermarkets. Customers could purchase selected products and hand these over to volunteers after checkout.

As of 15 August, a total of HUF 454,500 (€3,700) had been donated. The updated fundraising status is available on a dedicated website. SPAR Hungary expects donations to peak in the final weeks of August as families finalise their school supply purchases.

Through the ‘Joy to Give!’ campaign, SPAR Hungary helps ease this burden by offering promotions and various school supplies at different prices. Customers have consistently provided significant support through this campaign year after year.”

The Hungarian Maltese Charity Service has been SPAR Hungary’s strategic partner for almost thirty years. The ‘Joy to Give!’ school supply collection campaign is one of the most successful of their many joint initiatives.
