SPAR Gran Canaria is delighted to celebrate a significant award. Ángel Medina Padrón, President of SPAR Gran Canaria, was awarded the EY National Entrepreneur of the Year 2024 Award in the Social Entrepreneur category, in recognition of his work, business success, and commitment to society.

EY National Entrepreneur Awards have been held annually since 1997 and have become one of the most prestigious awards in the business world, recognising innovation, leadership, and business vision of Spain’s most outstanding entrepreneurs. This award recognises entrepreneurs who, throughout their careers, have demonstrated a notable commitment to society, particularly through the creation of initiatives that have a positive impact on local communities.

Dedicated team

The commitment, dedication, and enthusiasm of its team are fundamental to its success, as are the training and professional development of its staff. After receiving the award, Ángel Medina Padrón expressed his gratitude and highlighted SPAR Gran Canaria’s commitment to the island’s social fabric. “The credit goes to everyone who has worked for this company, and everyone here is deeply committed to the primary sector. We must contribute so that each of the farmers of Gran Canaria has a future,” he explained.

Receiving this award also reflects the significant development of SPAR Gran Canaria, which has been achieved through the teamwork of all its business partners, licensees, and employees. The company has grown in tandem with its team, demonstrating a strong social commitment and a forward-looking approach. Responsibility for the primary sector and the society of Gran Canaria remains a clear objective in SPAR Gran Canaria’s business vision, ensuring that both local farmers and residents continue to benefit from a sustainable and supportive business model.

As part of their sustainable sourcing policy, SPAR Gran Canaria places special emphasis on fostering relationships with farmers. Through these partnerships, SPAR Gran Canaria ensures the purchasing volumes of local produce and supports farmers financially. These agreements ensure that they can offer the best quality fruits and vegetables to customers through their retail network.
