Download imageSPAR Gran Canaria is dedicated to supporting projects that promote social inclusion. One such initiative is their sponsorship of the inclusive Interisleta Futbol Club, which consists of 26 individuals. This sponsorship has been renewed for the second year.
Through this sponsorship, SPAR Gran Canaria helps the team achieve their goals for the 2024-2025 season. These goals include holding training sessions in schools across the island, hosting the 3rd edition of the Isleta Cup, and participating for the third year in the Spanish Championship of adapted football with two teams.
SPAR Gran Canaria has extended its partnership with the Fundación Canaria Pequeño Valiente. This organisation provides free, high-quality accommodation and services to improve the lives of children with cancer and their families. SPAR Gran Canaria’s support of Casa-Hogar will benefit between 30 and 60 families this year.
The foundation’s President along with SPAR Gran Canaria’s President Ángel Medina, Vice-President José López, and General Manager Dunia Pérez, signed the renewed contract in the kitchen of the Casa-Hogar, the room seeing the most support from the company.
SPAR Gran Canaria and Canarian designer Ogadenia Díaz, with her brand OGADENIA Couture, are teaming up again to support Canarian families with children hospitalised due to medium or long-term illnesses. Through the ‘ValesMucho’ solidarity initiative, the families with gain access to a healthy and balanced diet using pre-funded cards that can be used at SPAR Supermarkets. This year, 44 families will benefit from this support.
SPAR Gran Canaria’s involvement in ‘ValesMucho’ will increase the funds available for the project. This will allow more families to benefit and ensuring the initiative can continue longer.
The ‘ValesMucho’ initiative started in 2020 after discussions between Ogadenia Díaz and Dr Carlos Lodos, an oncohematology doctor at the Pediatric Oncohematology Department of the Hospital Universitario Materno Infantil de Canarias. They recognised the financial difficulties faced by parents of children with hematological and oncological conditions. Often, the child’s illness prevents parents from working, making it hard for them to manage their household expenses.
