Approximately 500 tonnes of tomatoes from La Aldea will be made available across more than 200 SPAR branded stores on the island. This follows the partnership between SPAR Gran Canaria and Coagrisan (Sociedad Cooperativa Canaria), which has been renewed for the sixth consecutive year. This agreement continues a long-standing approach from SPAR Gran Canaria focused on supporting local production and enhancing the visibility of high-quality local produce throughout the island.
The tomatoes, which come in different varieties, will be available until June, giving customers access to seasonal, locally sourced produce, while also providing employment for 69 people and supporting families within the Coagrisan organisation.
Alongside its support for local producers, SPAR Gran Canaria is also strengthening its sport and community involvement through the renewal of its sponsorship of the SPAR Guerra del Río boat in Canarian lateen sailing boat for the new season, celebrating a 23-year partnership. This sponsorship highlights SPAR Gran Canaria’s emphasis on supporting local sports and the cultural and social value of Canarian lateen sailing. A strong focus of the sponsorship is youth involvement. Through federation-led courses and summer camps, SPAR Gran Canaria supports active lifestyles among children and young people while helping preserve one of the island’s distinctive cultural traditions.
Together, these initiatives reflect SPAR Gran Canaria’s ongoing approach to community impact by strengthening local supply chains while creating opportunities for customers, especially families and young people, to make healthier choices in everyday life.
