The fresh departments are a striking feature in the new 1,200m2 SPAR Supermarket. In addition to an extensive choice of fresh fruit and vegetables, a real store highlight is the fresh fish department. The large selection of sea and freshwater fish is offered in market style, highlighting the freshness of the products. Next to the fish market is a large butchery with a broad range of fresh meat, featuring premium and local products.
Supporting local
SPAR Slovenia has a long tradition of supporting local producers. The new store in Ivanić-Grad also stocks a range of products from local manufacturers, including domestic cakes, locally grown blueberries, as well as Shapello pet care products, introduced to SPAR customers through the successful ‘Start Up Croatia’ project.
Opening day activities
On the opening day, SPAR organised a meet-and-greet with famous Croatian chef Tomislav Špiček. In compliance with COVID-19 measures, customers could ask questions about preparing delicious, culinary delicacies. Another guest of honour was Mayor Javor Bojan Leša, who officially opened the store.
To demonstrate its strong local involvement, SPAR Croatia handed over a donation to the public fire brigade on the opening day, consisting of firefighting suits and fire extinguishers.

About SPAR Croatia
The first SPAR store opened in Croatia in 2005, following the signing of the licence agreement between ASPIAG (Austrian SPAR International AG) and SPAR International in 2004.
As a member of the ASPIAG group, SPAR Croatia has access to a wide range of own brand products. Brand development has primarily taken place through SPAR Supermarkets and INTERSPAR Hypermarkets, both through the take-over of existing chains and the opening of new stores.
