INTERSPAR Austria has been a committed partner of SOS Children’s Villages Austria since 2004. SOS Children’s Villages is the world’s largest non-governmental organisation focused on supporting children without parental care and families at risk. In 2021, INTERSPAR Austria supported the organisation through a donation of €130,000. Over the years, INTERSPAR Austria had donated a total of €1.6 million.
SPAR South Africa partnered with local producer Rama to raise funds for Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres across the country. Over half a million South African Rands worth of nutritious meals will be distributed, thanks to the support of customers. Earlier this year, Rama committed to donating one meal to a child in need for every Rama original fat spread 500g pack purchased from SPAR stores in South Africa. Over ZAR600,000 was generated through SPAR customers’ purchases in support of this initiative.
SPAR Ireland and its affiliated independent retailers recently handed a €517, 139 donation to their official charity partner, Make-A-Wish Ireland. This amount was raised through a variety of fundraising initiatives, including from collection boxes placed in over 400 SPAR stores nationwide. Make-A-Wish Children’s Charity grants the wishes of children aged between 3 and 17 years living with life-threatening medical conditions.
SPAR Gran Canara has launched the third edition of the SPAR Youth Talent Scholarship supporting talented young people between the ages of 9 and 16 in need of financial assistance for their studies and opportunities in sports practice.
The yearly solidarity calendar sale proceeds were donated to the local Down Syndrome Association. The proceeds will go to the development of the association’s activities and projects for the hundred families it assists in the insular province of Las Palmas.
SPAR Italy regional licensee, Aspiag Service, has raised €217,278 during its annual women’s charity fundraising campaign. The total amount was revealed on 8 March, International Women’s Rights Day. During this 14-day campaign, the SPAR retailer collected customer donations at SPAR store checkouts and then donated the full proceeds to a women’s charity of choice in each of the five regions it operates. The ‘The world needs women’ campaign supports projects and associations that promote women’s rights or combat gender-based violence.
