SPAR brand partner in Belgium, Colruyt Group, celebrated reopening of three newly renovated stores run by independent retailers in Wenduine, Eindhout, and Opwijk. Each supermarket now boasts a modern, sustainable design and a renewed focus on fresh, local products.

These extensive renovations reflect SPAR Colruyt Group’s ongoing commitment to supporting retailers reinvest in stores to enhance the shopping experience and support local communities.

SPAR Supermarket Wenduine

SPAR Supermarket Wenduine reopened its doors on in June after a complete rebuild. The store, now almost 800m², is run by Hilde Leenknegt and Ivan Kuyle, a dedicated couple with over 25 years of experience. The store features a strong emphasis on fresh food, with a bakery that bakes goods on-site for maximum freshness. Sustainability is also a priority, with a CO₂ installation for refrigeration and underfloor heating to minimise environmental impact.

SPAR Supermarket Eindhout

SPAR Supermarket in Eindhout, led by entrepreneurs Erkan and Melda, reopened in June following a full interior and exterior renovation. The store now features a revised layout to enhance shopping convenience and a broader range of fresh, local products. “Every adjustment we’ve made has been with our customers in mind,” said Erkan. The store also includes sustainable CO₂ cooling and LED lighting to reduce environmental impact. This renovation underscores SPAR Colruyt Group’s dedication to continuously improving its stores for the benefit of the community.

SPAR Supermarket Opwijk

SPAR Supermarket in Opwijk, a family-run business for three generations, reopened on 30 May after a thorough renovation. Brothers Stijn and Jo De Baerdemaeker have maintained the store’s legacy while modernising it to meet today’s standards. The store’s new layout highlights fresh and high-quality products, alongside sustainability features including a CO₂ cooling system and solar panels. This investment is part of SPAR Colruyt Group’s broader strategy to reinvest in its stores, ensuring they meet modern needs while preserving their community roots.

Each store celebrated its reopening with special events, including discounts and festive receptions, showcasing SPAR brand’s ongoing commitment to serving its local communities.
