The two key partners of the SPAR brand in China, SPAR Shandong and SPAR Guangdong, celebrated the opening and reopening of stores nationwide.

SPAR Shandong

At the end of October, the upgraded SPAR Shandong Tongcheng Supermarket reopened. The supermarket was redesigned in collaboration between SPAR Shandong and SPAR International. Instore, customers can enjoy a more spacious, user-friendly layout, ensuring that customers can move easily throughout the supermarket. In addition, the product offering has also been improved. This includes a focus on foodservice, with an open kitchen offering a variety of cooked food options. The supermarket also added convenient service facilities such as free drinking water stations, sewing kits, emergency medicine kits, ice bags and chairs to rest in. The use of digital self-checkouts streamlines the shopping experience for customers. Home delivery services are available for customers from the SPAR Tongcheng Supermarket.

Two new supermarkets opened in Weihei. The SPAR Shandong Yugang Road Supermarket has a compact format with a 268m² sales area. The supermarket boasts a range of products covering both daily needs as well as food-to-go solutions. Indeed, The international SPAR FoodClub has been introduced to this location, bringing a variety of hot and cold meals, snacks, pastries, sandwiches, coffee, and more.

Meanwhile, the SPAR Shandong Weihaishan Supermarket has a retail sales area of 275m². The supermarket has moved location and undergone and extensive upgrade to create a more pleasant shopping experience for customers. This is done through the use of product islands, spacious aisles, and improved lighting. The product selection has also improved and services such as home delivery and electronic shelf scales were implemented.

SPAR Guangdong

In Guangdong province, the SPAR Guangdong Dongcheng Wanda Supermarket welcomed customers for the first time at the end of November. Covering a retail area of over 5,000m² this large-format supermarket is a one-stop-shop for customers in Dongguan. The supermarket has a new and unique design, as well as an extensive product selection. A highlight of the supermarket is the bakery, which enables customers to see the production process from start to finish. A large fresh selection includes fruit and vegetables, as well as fresh fish and meat counters. The product assortment also includes various international products.

Additionaly, the new SPAR Guangdong Zhanjiang Wanda Supermarket also opened its doors in December. This 4,000m² supermarket includes a new store design and refreshed product range with an emphasis on SPAR own brand products, which has been curated for different customer needs. The fresh selection is also strong instore, with a wide range of fruit and vegetables, as well as seafood and butchery. Instore, customers find both local an international products on shelves, with other services including food-to-go solutions such as a bakery providing an overall one-stop-shop location.
