In September, SPAR Shandong’s Zhangjiakou Huailai County Lanton Manor store opened with a grand ceremony. Located in the heart of Huailai County, the store has a large sales area of 8,000m2 and offers over 20,000 products.
In addition to the many local specialties such as dried beef and kumis (a fermented dairy drink), customers are spoilt for choice with many regionally and internationally-sourced products, including beef and mutton from New Zealand, durian and coconut juice from Thailand, chocolates from Belgium, and seafood from different parts of Europe.
Designed in an elegant style, the Lanton Manor store will be used as a benchmark for further expansion in the Zhangjiakou area – providing fresh, healthy and convenient food options to Zhangjiakou residents.
The second SPAR Shandong store opening took place at the end of September with the launch of the SPAR Jiajiayue Jinan Huaxia Fudi Store in the centre of Lixia District in the city of Jinan.
Surrounded by an affluent local community and several office buildings, the 10,000m2 supermarket offers a high-end shopping experience with several Food-to-Go options and large displays of fresh produce. Other crowd pleasers include the expansive beauty, homecare and baby departments, to name just a few.
SPAR Guangdong
In Foshan City in central Guangdong, a 4,500m2 supermarket has opened in the central business district, offering customers a large assortment of over 16,500 products with a mix of both internationally-sourced and locally-produced food ranges. SPAR Foshan Nanxun Yihai Port is the fourth SPAR store to open in Foshan – an area of strategic significance for SPAR Guangdong with its rapidly growing economy.
And finally, just before National Day on 1 October, SPAR Guangdong launched two new SPAR Lifestyle stores in Dongguan city. The first, SPAR Shijie, has a sales area of 196m2 and offers a selection of imported food and non-food items, while the second, SPAR Xiping, has a sales area of 191m2 and focuses on offering fresh produce that has been sourced from local farmers.

About SPAR China
SPAR was introduced to China in 2004 with the signing of the licence agreement for Shandong Province. This was followed by the addition of more partners, and now SPAR has eight partners in nine provinces: Shandong, Guangdong, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Beijing, Sichuan, Henan, Hebei and Yunnan.
The privately-owned retail chains licensed to operate SPAR have a cooperative relationship in line with the original SPAR mission of working together to reduce costs, maximise sales and increase profits. The SPAR China Partners, whilst part of a leading international group, maintain 100% local ownership.
