The renovation included fitting LED lighting and upgrading 90% of the cool cabinets and refrigerators to use cleaner operating systems. A more extensive home meal replacement offer is now available following the redesign, which was supported by SPAR International and SPAR South Africa North Rand division.
Another change has been the relocation of the butchery and bakery preparation areas. These were previously in the nearby SUPERSPAR Acacia store and SPAR Botswana Distribution Centre. The latter operates using a photovoltaic plant which is another part of the sustainability investment by the retailer. The relocation of the preparation areas has led to a more diverse offering in these sections for shoppers.
There is a team of 43 people who together manage the store’s daily operations and meet the needs of customers. They and their customers welcomed the upgrade and modernisation of the 541m² SPAR Supermarket. The combination of convenience integrated into the new store layout, alongside an increased product range, resulted in an offering tailored to suit the local shopper profile.
