Kneading dough at closing time
The bakery at the SPAR Supermarket in Handzame is a real showpiece, setting this SPAR store apart from its competitors in the area. Bread is baked onsite with dough kneaded at closing time and left to rise overnight in a proving cabinet.
“In the morning we start baking, so we can offer our customers the most delicious, fragrant bread”, Jens van Landeghem explains.
Local and fresh
Jens and Delphine share a passion for the SPAR Brand and good, fresh food, and this is clearly reflected in the assortment offered instore.
Their SPAR Supermarket showcases locally sourced products including the best local beef and cheeses. Cold cuts are freshly sliced at the counter on request of the customers, which creates regular opportunities for a casual chat. The deli counter also boasts delicious homemade food-to-go, including their renowned vol-au-vent with salmon.
Market feel
The SPAR Supermarket in Handzame has a fresh and modern look. It has a sales surface of 780m² and is staffed by a team of 13 locally hired colleagues. Jens and Delphine focus clearly on the fresh sections. “We want to create a real fresh market feeling”, says Jens.
