“Millions of Ukraine’s people, especially women, children, and the elderly, had to leave their homes. Thousands have found a temporary home in Austria – for example in the Caritas Haus Mira in Vienna Floridsdorf and other quarters. If there is good news in these challenging and unsettling times, it is the willingness to help, both among our citizens and from business partners. Thank you very much to SPAR in Vienna for supporting Haus Mira”, says Klaus Schwertner, Caritas director of the Archdiocese of Vienna.
SPAR Austria, a 100% Austrian family business, includes social responsibility within its company philosophy. “Supporting social projects and institutions such as Caritas is particularly important to us,” emphasises SPAR Austria’s regional Managing Director for Vienna Alois Huber. Food that is edible but has a short shelf-life is not thrown away at SPAR but is sold via Too Good To Go or donated to social organisations such as the Caritas food distribution center LeO.
