Modern learning
SPAR Austria combines the benefits of a large company with the personal attention of a family business. SPAR trainees get to know the entire retail market and receive regular feedback from experienced professionals. SPAR Austria also utilises the latest in e-learning: apprentices can use SPAR’s diverse online learning platforms to deepen their specialist knowledge in an engaging way.
SPAR currently employs about 2,480 trainees in Austria. Young people can choose from 23 different courses and learn in a team what it means to pursue a successful career in retail.
Thinking outside the box
Hands-on learning is an important part of all SPAR Academy classes, including the SPAR Academy in Vienna. In the global food trade, specialists are in high demand. As such, SPAR Austria continues to develop its course offering by integrating additional modules into the curriculum. Examples include certified cheese accreditations, organic food courses, and green energy programmes. These options enable young people to think outside the box and acquire additional knowledge beyond the regular curriculum.
Those interested in joining the SPAR family and following a training programme can apply online on SPAR Austria’s job portal.

About SPAR Austria
The origins of SPAR in Austria date back to 1954, but the current SPAR AG was created in 1970 when the original founding families joined with other regional wholesalers to form SPAR Austria AG – a 100% privately owned Austrian company.
With licences granted by SPAR International, ASPIAG (Austria SPAR International AG) has also developed SPAR in Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia, and Northern Italy.
