October 23, 2024 IN THE CATEGORY: Digital and Marketing

SPAR Austria Group open a 1,200m² IT hub at the Austria Campus in Vienna. 77 employees at this hub handle core and support processes for the group. The division employs 700 IT and digitalisation specialists in Austria, northern Italy, Hungary, Slovenia, and Croatia

As the SPAR Austria Group continues to grow, its focus is on the digital transformation of business and service processes. To improve the shopping experience for customers and create a better work environment for employees, SPAR-ICS, the group’s IT division, is expanding in Vienna.

“Our new IT centre in Vienna represents progress and innovation. At SPAR-ICS, we are developing solutions for the retail of the future and setting new standards in digitalisation. We are proud to be the leader in innovation and IT for the Austrian food retail sector. Expanding in Vienna was a logical step to harness the city’s innovative spirit”, said SPAR Austria Board member Markus Kaser.

Innovative solutions

In 2018, SPAR-ICS expanded its operations beyond Salzburg, adding locations in Wernberg (Carinthia) and Vienna. The teams work together remotely, enabling SPAR Austria to recruit talent throughout the country. This strategy has quickly grown the ICS Hub B located in Vienna from 20 to 77 employees.

The new ICS Hub B in Vienna covers all of the division’s activities, including Digital Retail, Data Science, Digital Marketing, Cloud & Mobile Computing, IT Security, E-Commerce, and Big Data.

New way of working

The 1,200m² space at the hub offers 62 flexible desk-sharing workstations, four meeting rooms for 29 people, and six collaboration rooms, including quiet areas, hot desks, and team areas. There are also two phone booths for privacy.

“Onboarding is crucial for remote teams. We provide employees with personalised learning, dedicated contacts, and an ‘ICS buddy.’ Through Welcome Days and the ICS Academy, we create the perfect environment for a smooth start at SPAR-ICS”, explained SPAR-ICS Managing Director Andreas Kranabitl.
