SPAR Austria is once again creating opportunities for young talent with 900 apprenticeship positions available from autumn 2026. Roles range from retail at SPAR, INTERSPAR, and Maximarkt to IT and production jobs.

Diversity in professions

SPAR Austria offers more than traditional retail apprenticeships. Across Austria, candidates can choose from over 20 training professions, including food technician, meat processor, truck driver, industrial electrician, logistics clerk, office clerk, real estate agent, HR specialist, media designer, and IT technician. INTERSPAR and Maximarkt also provide opportunities in system catering and bakery roles.

“For decades, SPAR Austria has stood for security and reliability as a local supplier and employer. As a family-run company, we offer young talent solid training with prospects in many areas and great development opportunities within the company,” said Hans K. Reisch, CEO SPAR Austria.

Practical training and benefits

Apprentices learn hands-on at SPAR stores and production facilities, supported by modern training at the SPAR Academy in Vienna and regional classes. SPAR Austria offers its apprentices bonuses and benefits worth over €6,700, including an iPad after the first year for those who perform well, discounts, and remuneration above the collective agreement. Successful apprentices are guaranteed full-time employment with an attractive starting salary.

Career opportunities

An apprenticeship at SPAR Austria is a stepping stone to a secure future. Graduates can advance to store management, head office roles, or even become self-employed SPAR retailers. Opportunities also extend to other countries where SPAR operates.

Applications are now open via SPAR Austria’s job portal.

About SPAR Austria

The origins of the SPAR brand in Austria date back to 1954. The current SPAR AG was created in 1970 when the original founding families joined other regional wholesalers to form SPAR Austria AG, a 100% privately owned Austrian company. Company-owned stores operate throughout the country in the multi-format retail strategy developed since the 1960’s, whilst independent retailers operate under sub-license from SPAR Austria and continue building the brand’s presence.
