This year, SPAR Austria is celebrating its 70th anniversary. Employee wellbeing has always been a top priority, recognising satisfied employees are key to the company's success. As a token of appreciation, the retail organisation is giving all employees in Austria an extra day off, which can be used immediately.

Hans F. Reisch, a wholesaler and the grandfather of SPAR Austria’s current CEO Hans K. Reisch, founded the SPAR Tirol/Pinzgau trade association in 1954 in Kufstein (Tyrol) together with 100 independent retailers. Still a fully private Austrian family business, it has grown into a successful retail group. In its anniversary year, SPAR Austria has once again secured market leadership in Austrian food retailing. To celebrate and to thank its team for their outstanding achievements, the company is giving every employee in Austria one extra day off, totalling 40,400 additional holiday days.
