At the 2025 Trade Show, SPAR Australia brought together retailers, directors, and staff to celebrate innovation, partnership, and achievement across the SPAR network.

Taking place at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre from 14–16 August, the SPAR Australia Trade Show 2025 showcased success across the retail organisation.

Celebrating independents

Independent retailers are a core part of SPAR Australia’s store portfolio. The retail organisation strives to provide real choice and strong competition for its independent retailers. The Better Together programme recognises and rewards independent retailers, supporting growth and sustainability for family-owned businesses. Running for 13 years, the programme has seen more than AUS$5.83 million presented to independent retailers, with AUS$546,374 presented this year.

The Trade Show culminated with the SPAR Gala Awards dinner on August 16th. Over the course of the evening, various SPAR retailers were celebrated for their dedication.

The Kapetanos & Spyrakis family from the SPAR supermarket Sussex Inlet were awarded the prestigious Little SPAR Award. This award is reserved for individuals or families who have made exceptional contributions to the SPAR community over many years. Having been part of the SPAR Australia network since 2010, the family’s community spirit, and unwavering support of the SPAR brand have made them a cornerstone of both their local area and the wider SPAR family.

Meanwhile, SPAR store in Bourke took home the 2025 SPAR Store of the Year Award with SPAR Express Terrigal winning the SPAR Express Store of the Year. Retailers were also recognised with awards across different categories, with the following retailers receiving accolades.

  • SPAR Grocery Award – SPAR store Ballina
  • SPAR Express Grocery Award – SPAR Express Urangan
  • Dairy / Freezer Award – SPAR store Blackbutt
  • Fresh Food Award – SPAR store Malanda
