SPAR Albania has joined the international SPAR One Tree Planted campaign after planting 50 Tilia trees worth over €2,500 in the capital city Tirana. The tree-planting ceremony was attended by SPAR Albania management team, municipality staff, and the mayor of Tirana, who gave a speech to thank SPAR for this initiative.

2022 represents a momentous occasion for the global SPAR family as we celebrate the brand’s 90th anniversary. 

In recognition of this milestone, we have taken action at both a local and international level by coming together to plant hundreds of thousands of trees in SPAR communities worldwide. SPAR has always had a close affinity and connection to trees and the environment. Not only is a Fir tree an inherent element of our identity, but we have always prided ourselves on being a sustainable retailer focused on giving back.  

Our global tree planting initiative is called SPAR One Tree Planted. It symbolises the simple action of putting trees into the ground, one tree at a time. 

The SPAR One Tree Planted campaign involves multiple SPAR countries from around the world, with all funds raised towards planting trees. Various mechanics will be implemented across the participating markets to raise these funds. We aim to raise as much as possible to uplift local communities, reduce environmental impact and help build a sustainable future for all.

SPAR International granted the licence for SPAR in Albania in mid-2016 to Almark, owned by the Balfin Group.

Since launching in October 2016, SPAR Albania has continued to convert company-owned stores. In addition, new partnerships have been established with independent retailers to expand the brand’s reach. As a result, SPAR Albania operates two formats: INTERSPAR Hypermarkets and SPAR Supermarkets.
