Recently, SPAR Denmark introduced the 3D Retail Simulation Game, facilitating training in customer service and key retail operations for employees in currently 51 of its 130 SPAR stores. To date, SPAR Denmark has 311 users and this number will rise as further roll-out is being planned. The SPAR Denmark management team expects the game to be an effective tool to increase sales.

The 3D Simulation Game is about keeping a virtual store tidy, clean and well stocked. Customers must experience good service every time they visit the shop. “It is very important that our stores have a high standard in terms of service, range and cleanliness,” said SPAR Denmark’s HR Manager, Mette Marie Dragsdal.

Results from other SPAR countries where the game is already in use shows that the stores see a significant improvement in both revenue and gross profit.

“Appealing and welcoming stores with helpful and service-minded employees develop loyal customers. We are really excited to see how much the game can boost sales in our stores”, said Richo Boss, CEO of SPAR Denmark.

SPAR Denmark is not the only country to recently launch this fantastic training method as SPAR Ireland has also introduced the 3D Retail Simulation Game as part of their blended learning approach. SPAR Ireland currently have rolled out the game to 38 stores, with another 50 stores in the pipeline to commence gamification. The game is an intergrated part of the SPAR Ireland Academy which was launched last year, and which develops the core skills of retailers and employees across their retail estate.

The 3D Simulation Game also has a built-in element of competition, which should motivate employees to repeatedly play the game in their quest to gain the most points. It is clear that this a fun, different and effective way to train retail teams.

More information on the game is available on SPAR Learning.
