SPAR Qatar Hosts Regional Category Management Workshop with SPAR International

In his opening address, Cobus Lombard, General Manager of SPAR Qatar, reflected on the importance of this initiative: “This workshop not only strengthens the skills of our teams but also fosters collaboration and knowledge-sharing across different regions. I’m pleased to welcome all of you, and I look forward to seeing how these insights will shape the success of the SPAR network.”
Zsuzsa Hordai, SPAR International representative, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Developing our people across the countries in which the SPAR brand is operated is a core function of SPAR International. By hosting this workshop, we created a space for learning and collaboration that will drive innovation and consistency across this region.”
The workshop highlights the importance of category management, a critical component of retail operations which ensures each store’s assortment aligns with the needs of local customers. As the SPAR brand continues expanding, maintaining a customer-focused product offering at competitive prices remains a top priority.
This event also marks the beginning of a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing operational excellence across the region, reaffirming SPAR’s commitment to its employees, customers, and the communities it serves.

Al Wataniya International Holding, the licence company for Qatar, joined SPAR in 2015 and has focused on establishing the most appropriate retail and supply chain model for the brand. The first SPAR store opened in November 2017, and the company has plans in place to continue growing its retail presence.
