Markus Kaser appointed Deputy Chairman of SPAR Austria Board

The Supervisory Board of SPAR Austria has appointed Markus Kaser (54) as Deputy Chairman of the Board with effect from January 1, 2026. Markus Kaser has been with the company since 1998 and has served on the SPAR Executive Board since 2021, where he is responsible for assortment management, marketing, CSR, sustainability, IT, as well as the business divisions, INTERSPAR and Maximarkt. This position had not been filled at SPAR Austria in recent years.

Career at SPAR Austria

Born in Tyrol, Markus Kaser studied business administration in Innsbruck and began his career at SPAR Austria in 1998. Initially, he worked on innovative marketing projects, including the newly established “New Media and E-Commerce” division. In 2003, he moved to INTERSPAR, where he joined the management team in 2005. In 2021, he was appointed to the Executive Board of SPAR Austria. Starting January 1, 2026, he will serve as Deputy Chairman of the Board.

Dr. Gerhard Drexel, President of the Supervisory Board, said: “With this decision, we aim to strengthen the Executive Board and ensure continuity. Markus Kaser is a highly experienced SPAR manager, and we are pleased to have him take on this important role.”
